Ready ‘aged’ copper house signs for the traditional cottage or house

Like traditional ? House signs that has traditional design and materials-oak and copper, each letter or number of these house signs is pressed into one sheet of patinated copper sheet with the option of a weathered oak frame.

Inspired by the copper shop fronts and signage of the 1930s and 40s the screws are covered with copper tabs to resemble nails.

Keeping up with orders, another batch of coat hooks finished, made from seasoned reclaimed timbers, hand made in sunny Norfolk. Can be positioned on a wall to create a feature, for living rooms, bathrooms (towels actually stay on the hook) and kitchens.

The Tree seat and garden bench season starts soon and with a quantity of windfall english oak from a large oak tree saved from the barbarian wood fuel cutter, and planked over 4 years ago, is waiting for environmentally conscious clients. The oak tree seats we make use reclaimed 6 inch posts as legs and constructed using bolts to avoid wood joints, the built in weakness of outdoor furniture. The oak tree seats have patinated copper clad bolts to contrast naturally with the oak as it weathers to a silvery grey colour like old churches. Tree seats also have inbuilt security against theft.

If you have the energy and will to eco fit your garden or conservatory then here are some sustainable furniture pieces that fulfill that profile. At present we have some Norfolk oak for tree seats and benches with copper clad bolts, all maintenance free. These can also be used as eco tree seats or just half seats for placing next to a wall with pot plant ?

For eco fitting the patio a rather interesting set – reel rockers made from cable reels and a large low table again from a reel. All self assembly and the table on three feet will not rock on unstable floors. Upcycling Trespa board offcuts into Coffee Tables for indoor or outdoor use-yes ! These can be left outside-Trespa has a 50 year external life, just an occasional wipe with soapy water to bring back the shine. Trespa is mainly used as external cladding and severe condition environments. These are made from virgin offcuts-saved from landfill ! Delivered flatpack and easily assembled in many colour options.

10 years of Upcycling at reelfurniture deserves a new look

So after 10 years of reelfurniture.co.uk and many new designs beyond the original it needed a new footprint, a new brand, so here is David Meddings Design. It was back in 2001 at the Norwich Festival that I demo-ed a rather rough looking rocker made from a discarded cable reel, the response was so positive that reelfurniture was created. And for the web – well a cable reel is a simple bolt together affair so inspiration for a self assembly Reel Rocker, flat pack worldwide.
