Started making seed growing boxes for my father at the age of 6, was distracted by school and college etc and now a designer and maker of all things recycled and upcycled. Show me the material and the challenge is to convert that to a sustainable, eco friendly product.

I have been a designer/craftsman for many years mostly in wood using native and recycled timbers and more recently Trespa and metals  which I source myself.

I have made furniture in the Japanese ‘tensu’ style wonderful for its simple and balanced design and respect the work of Richard Buckminster Fuller he of the geodesic dome and ‘synergy’. He it was who introduced me to ‘structures of least effort’ (energy and materials), which is how ‘natural’ organisms, are constructed. So I find it interesting and a challenge to avoid the traditional jointing methods and to design pieces with a more efficient construct.

So in these pieces inspired by cable reels and other ‘industrial’ materials I have created furniture that can be delivered flat-pack and assembled in minutes. It is contemporary in respect to our concern over timber resources affecting climate change and can be seen as ‘carbon sinks’.
